2016 was a really awesome year for our business, it was our 9th year photographing weddings together and we hit our 200th wedding we have photographed together!! We shot 43 gorgeous and amazing weddings all over the state and country, plus lots of engagement sessions, bridal sessions and couples sessions as well. We photographed in 9 different states and Mexico. We also photographed in 37 different cities in NC and 8 different cities in SC. We traveled over 29,500 miles in our car this year, and flew over 14,000 miles this year too for personal and business (over 43,000 total)! We hit 50,000 miles on our 1 year old Honda Civic already too, that’s a lot!
We were so excited to hit both wedding 175 and 200 together this year, and ended the year on wedding 201! It ended after midnight on New Years Eve, so I guess it was a perfect way to end 2016 and start 2017. We also got very close to visiting all 50 states together, by the end of 2016 we only had 6 states left, but since the beginning of 2017 we only have 3 states left now!
Getting a few steps closer to photographing in all 50 states (those in BLUE!), and even closer to visiting all 50 (those in RED!), here is our map so far, plus all the cities and states we visited in 2016 in the list below (not pictured Alaska, which we had visited, and Hawaii, that we still have left to visit):
Pasedena, Maryland; Greenville, SC; Cleveland, SC; Bozeman, Montana; Lynchburg, VA; Rock Hill, SC; Independence, Missouri; Folly Beach, SC; Kansas City, Missouri; Dover, PA; Summerville, SC; Richmond, VA; Ridgeway, SC; Huddleston, VA; Dunbar, WV; Long Creek, SC; Nitro, WV; Blacksburg, SC; Chattanooga, TN
All the counties in dark blue are the ones where we photographed in 2016, the lighter blue ones are all the counties we’ve photographed in other years as well.
Cities in NC we photographed in: Monroe, Charlotte, Durham, McAdenville, Pinehurst, Winston-Salem, Cary, Marvin, Moorseville, Gastonia, Davidson, Harmony, Concord, Belmont, Chapel Hill, Midland, Lawndale, Shelby, Polkville, Denver, Black Mountain, Ferguson, Belmont, Mt. We had such a fun year together, we had lots of fun travels that are all below. We had so much fun with the Panther’s playoffs, and so much heartbreak with their Super Bowl loss! We toughed through a really tough Panther’s year this year too, but we did get to hold the flag on the field twice! We went to see one of our favorite plays, Wicked, and had a fun V-Day date to Uptown. We celebrated all the fun holidays, got green beer and dressed up for St. Patty’s Day and 4th of July. We went all out for our favorite holiday Halloween, and dressed up as Cruella de Vil, Jasper her henchman, and kidnapped a Dalmatian puppy, Jagger! Also had a fun and beautiful Christmas, tacky sweatshirts and all! We had fun going to see the new rides at Carowinds. We finally moved our office upstairs to a much bigger area, and Heather switched to a PC! Heather got a new sewing room, and we finally made ourselves a patio, which was really hard haha. Walter got his first tattoo and second (our dating and wedding anniversary), and Heather got her second to match and third (the Beauty and the Beast Enchanted rose). The Hornets went to the Playoffs, even if they didn’t make it far. We got a new nephew, Jude, also known as the world’s biggest baby. We had some friends come over from England and we showed them a Knights baseball game. We got to see the President, Walter yelled “Hey, Mr. President!” and he winked at Heather. We got a new 5d mkIV! We saw some favorite comedians. Jagger turned SIX! Whew, it’s been a full and fun year! Follow us @heatherburks and @walterburks on Instagram to see more this year!!
